Second Life Mesh Avatars For Newbies!

Second Life has just released mesh starter avatars for new residents. I tried them and here's what they look like:

Alejandro

Alicia

Alison

Angus

Archer

Barry

Brandon

Delilah

Fabian

 Hugo

Johnny

Julian

Lucy

Mariah

Marissa

Sara

Tristan

Curtis

Vanessa

Zoe

Vampire Beast

Werewolf Beast

Zombie Ian

Sadie

I must say that the humanoid avatars look really weird and totally unproportional. Just look at the huge hands on the female avatars e.g.

This again proves, that Linden Lab does not have an eye for any aesthetic or beauty or let me just say, no taste at all. I can understand that not everybody has an eye for "nice" things, but don't they have anyone responsible for art or a creative department or some sort?

Cuz if they hired a professional artist to create those mesh avatars, that professional should have great knowledge about body proportions right?

Anyway, on the other hand, this avoids LL competing with SL creators, which is a good thing. Obviously, newbies will sooner or later purchase better looking avatars, if they want individuality.

So all in all, the mesh avatars aren't that bad for starters. The only thing that I find really poor, is that all starter avatars set the standard of really tall female avatars, like all of them are more than 2 meters tall.

This is why a lot of giant female avatars walk the grid. I also realized how tall I was, perhaps a almost a year after I first joined SL.

I didn't know I was that tall, cuz I based my shape from the default library shape. I only felt gigantic, when I met oldie avatars back in the day. I wondered why most of them were so short. So I tweaked my height after having troubles of being always taller than male avatars, cuz it's height plus high heels, equals to super tall.

By SL setting this standard, we will always have gigantic avatars and huge furniture. Another problem will be, when newbies will have problems trying to figure out, which alpha they are suppose to use, cuz in the avatar folder, there are more than two alpha layers as a choice.

New residents will have to be educated about the differences between, system layers, prim, sculpts and mesh, and how to use and combine them.

I like the none-human avatars and mesh is definitely the future so...  cheers!

Tip: Please wear alpha layers by using the "add" option instead of "wear" This way, you can wear more than one layer at the same time. The same applies for tattoo layer. Always "add" instead of wear, to wear multiple layers.
* Mesh and wearing multiple layers only work on 3.0 and up Viewers!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clothing and Layers:

The Gown base is mesh - so please use a mesh enabled viewer! Included is a body shape especially fitted for the Gown Mesh, as well as an alpha layer, which should be worn using the "add" option.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attachment points:
All attachment points are also mentioned, to make it easier for you, when combining outfits.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shoes:

Since inviprims are already outdated and cause many issues (like when standing on transparent floors), I do not include them anymore, but include an alpha layer instead.
It is strongly suggested to switch to one of the advanced viewers or simply download and install the official Second Life Viewer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tips for optimal lighting:

Since facelights are already outdated and annoying, I do not include them anymore in my avatar packs. I advice you to tweak your windlight settings instead, to achieve the exact avatar appearance.

If you are using the Firestorm Viewer, the best setting for your skin (the one I use for the pictures) is -- Nam's Optimal Skin 2. All picture shots aside from the vintage shots, were made using this windlight setting.
If you are using the official Second Life Viewer, please set your windlight and save it as a preset.
For new residents, this setting is to be found under your menu --world, --environment settings, --environment editor, --advanced sky, --sky presets. Just choose the one that you like best or tweak it to your liking.
Included in the pack is a notecard with my windlight setting suggestion.

***Attention***

All products that are copy/mod/no transfer are non-refundable, so please read the descriptions carefully before you purchase.

Should you encounter any issues regarding my products, please don't hesitate to contact me per notecard with your transaction number or via https://my.secondlife.com/cantell.mizser which is better, since I am rarely inworld.

Dark Side In Pixels

So halloween day is getting closer and we surely are gonna have a halloween party at C-Music Lounge (wear your scariest outfit!). Well I'm a huge gothic and horror fan, and I created my "Graveyard of Doom" above C-Music Lounge including zombies for my group members, for some fun and pleasure, but it's also open for all.

You can shoot zombies in my graveyard or camp for a few Linden bucks by hanging yourself up using the gallow or just lay inside the coffin to rest in peace. Check the place out when you get the chance and have fun gettin' killed by my zombies. We need brains!! Arrrrrrrrgh! Well that's what a lot of people I've encountered would say lol!

Here are some shots from my graveyard, just to give you a taste of some of my gothic fashion. I'm a vampire for now, to be precised so... give me your blood!! Ha ha!!

Me in my graveyard, waiting for my zombie friends

Me in a trash can full of rotten body parts

Another shot. Nice view isn't it?

A murder scene. Nice axe lol!

Is it feeding time yet? Me chillin' in my favorite coffin.

Hair: Vixen
Fangs: Tes Tiramisu
Necklace: Tickled Pink
Eyes: Fnky
Gown: Crimson Shadow (seller not recommendable)

Unfortunately, I can not recommend the seller "Crimson Shadow", since customer service doesn't seem to be on his list. Well I wasted 800L$ at their store, cuz I accidentally double purchased the featured dress which is Copy/No transfer, due to the fucking laggy moment there during the purchase.

The seller never responded to ANY of my notecards or IMs. Just add logic to the situation - who would buy the same item twice in a matter of seconds if the item is COPY and NO TRANSFER? How much is 800L$ converted to US$, approximately 2.50? I ain't sweatin' 'bout a few bucks. It's all about the principle. You do business by selling items? Then take care of your fuckin' customers damn it!

The moral of the story? I don't care how "nice" your products are, if you provide bad customer service, I'll definitely mention your name here. Luckily, the majority of SL sellers that I've encountered, provided great customer service so far. Most were helpful and professional, and those sellers are where I buy from again, in the future.
